Does anyone know about the risks of having a intrathecal pain pump?

I have chronic abdominal pain from adhesions. I have been on narcotic pain meds for years. This is a last resort. But I have recently heard bad things concerning this pump. Like that it can cause paralisys, that the medication can crystalize, and it can cause strokes. If you know anyhting about this PLEASE respond.
